Moama Local Aboriginal Land Council

About Us

The Moama Local Aboriginal Land Council (Moama LALC) is a community-based organisation dedicated to supporting and empowering Aboriginal people within the Moama region. Guided by the principles of the Aboriginal Land Rights Act 1983 (NSW), Moama LALC works to protect and promote the rights, culture, and wellbeing of its members while managing and caring for Country.

At the heart of what we do is a deep commitment to cultural preservation and education. We work to maintain and celebrate the rich Aboriginal heritage of the region through cultural programs, events, and activities that strengthen identity, promote understanding, and keep traditions alive. Our work includes cultural site management, protection of significant landscapes, and sharing knowledge with the wider community.

Moama LALC is also actively involved in land management and economic development. We manage lands returned through successful land claims, working to use these assets sustainably for the benefit of current and future generations. This includes facilitating opportunities for housing, employment, and community development projects, with a focus on creating positive, long-term outcomes for our members.

We provide essential support services to our community, including assistance with housing, education, employment pathways, and access to community programs. We work closely with government agencies, local organisations, and service providers to ensure that the needs of our members are met, particularly for those who may be experiencing disadvantage.

Through strong governance, leadership, and community engagement, Moama LALC advocates for Aboriginal self-determination and social justice. We are proud to be a voice for our people, promoting respect, equality, and recognition for Aboriginal culture and rights. Our ongoing mission is to build a stronger, more connected, and resilient community where culture is celebrated and opportunities are created for all generations.

Governance and direction are led by Chairperson Mr Phillip Hudson and Deputy Chairperson Barbara Kerr, alongside a committed Board and staff. Our office is open Monday to Friday, from 9:am to 4:30pm, and we can be reached on (03) 5482 6071 or via email at admin@moamalalc.com.au.
